Our next meeting will be in the The Discovery Museum on Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne. It will begin at 12:00 (noon), to end two or three hours later, on Saturday 3rd of March, 2012 which follows our regular pattern of the first Saturday each month. You can find us in the classroom on the ground floor, unless there's a last-minute change. If there's a change, we will update this article. If you can't find us when you arrive, ask a member of staff to help you.

We have a change of venue for our meeting this month - we are moving to the Courtyard's Café Bar - and the good news is that's it's open until 11pm so we can start the meeting at 7:30pm which will give everyone a little more time to arrive.
The Courtyard has wifi and there is level access to all public areas of the building.

Our November meeting will be at the Point4 in Hereford on Weds 23 starting at 7:30pm.

No definite agenda for the meeting, but as usual please bring along your Linux/Open Source gear if you want help with it, or just a chance to talk FLOSS.

If you've recently joined please come along, we are a varied bunch and welcome everyone whatever they're level of experience.

The meeting is free to attend, with free fast wifi, and free car parking.

KLUG's last technical meeting of 2011 will be on Saturday 26th November from
10am to 2pm at the Innovation Centre Medway

Although its a couple of miles from Chatham Train Station it is on the

On 25th August 1991 Linus Torvalds announced that he had been working on a new PC (80386) operating system.

Now, 20 years later we all know and (mostly) love Linux, the fruit of his labours.

To celebrate this GLLUG (and others) will meet on 25th August at Mabel's Tavern, 9 Mabledon Place, WC1H 9AZ from 5pm onwards.

Mabel's Tavern is a "Shepherd Neame" pub so we can expect to drink real beer. They serve food too.

GLLUG's purpose is to bring together London's Linux users so they can share experiences and expertise (or revel in their inexperience and quest for expertise), to chat about the state of the (Linux) world, that sort of thing.

Microsoft declares that ODF has won the battle with OOXML.

“We have shifted towards Linux because of Microsoft,” he said. “Microsoft has a lot of power and it is going to be difficult, but we will be working hard to develop the Linux market.”
